Caleb's Mint SVX Makes an Incredible Noise!
“It has a flat 6 like a Porshe 911, it’s a 2 door coupe like a 350Z, but… It’s a Subaru.”
“WHAT IS THAT?” You hear someone gasp at Cars and Coffee, coming from the center of the crowd surrounding Caleb’s daily driven SVX. When Caleb answers, blank faces stare back at him in disbelief… “It’s a Subaru??”
Caleb has, what we at Tireside think, is the nicest SVX in the NW and one of our favorite Subaru’s we have seen thus far (and we have a soft underbelly for Subaru’s, check out our *Tireside Racecar, Momo’s Forester, and our Subaru Drift Build*). So lucky for us to cross Caleb’s path at Wilsonville’s World of Speed’s weekly Cars and Coffee event.
Everyone’s confusion lies at the exterior; peeking through the windows you see a beautiful, unmangled interior, and on the outside you see a flawless love child of an Integra and a 240. Sleek, unique, and aggressive, this SVX begs to be driven.
When Caleb bought the SVX it was completely stock with a few minor changes, the previous owner loved this car and thought it was perfect just the way it was. Which stock is always better than a hoopty, but a few mods never hurt anyone!
Caleb made a few tasteful modifications, including completely maxed out coilovers and new wheels and tires, but he loves the look of the SVX and kept it’s legacy untarnished. But our favorite thing about this car is the music to our ears sound when you rev the engine; Caleb took a flat 6 and made it make one of the most satisfying noises we have ever heard. Caleb had his exhaust system done by Art Welding. The stock headers lead into a Magnaflow, high flow cat, straight into a carbon exhaust performance muffler, shooting straight out the tail end. Simple and straightforward, but my-oh-my the symphony sounds glorious!
One of Caleb’s favorite parts about owning his SVX is the fact that he is the only one around. There’s no competition, there’s freedom for him to do whatever he wants with the car, there’s no pressure or judgements, it’s just fun.
