Nate's Eunos Roadster J-Limited

It’s a Miata, it’s a Mx5, NO!! I It’s a 1991 Eunos Roadster!

Yes, we realize you had to just do a double take, but you read that right, that is NOT a Miata. It is number 39 of 800 ever produced, special edition, J-Limited Eunos Roadsters in the even more rare for its kind, “Sunburst Yellow,” Imported to Nate’s garage straight from Japan. Nate spent the evening with us going over it’s specs, telling us about the journey the car has made and the changes he has made thus far.

Nate and his Importer, Nick Singleton, spent over a month searching for the car in southern Japan and they came across this beauty with only 83,000 original miles, 1 original owner, and every original service record and manual. Nate then began the 5 month import process, made plans for the car, and hurried up to wait.

Despite having to do work on the car and make some changes, you would have never guessed that the car arrived on the dock in anything less than mint condition. Although it was a bit worn upon arrival, Nate has restored it to it’s radiant, glistening yellow, and has achieved his goal of having a car that pays him back for all of his hard work in “smiles per gallon.”

The interior boasts Nardi Torino all mahogany interior. The steering wheel, shift knob, and E-brake is all matching mahogany made from the same piece of wood. From top to bottom the interior shines with custom, with special J-Limited Roadster “R” floor mats.

Under the hood we found an N.A. 1.6 Liter inline 4. Nate shared with us that he had installed a Jackson Racing supercharger to give that extra shove. But has since removed it bringing the power back to the original 103-ish wheel horsepower. He has later plans to maybe go the turbo charged route to get a bit more power than was available with the blower.

Weighing 2150 pounds (Just 50 pounds heavier than the Datsun we featured HERE) she still manages to get up and go. With classic Panasport racing wheels, Mazda Speed oversized front brakes, with 11.5 inch front rotors with Hawk HPS pads on all four wheels, we can stop with ease. But Tein coilovers front and rear, Flying Miata front and rear sway bars with racing fully adjustable end links and polyurethane bushings, arm us with the forces to reckon with at any turn the road ahead may hold.

As Nate says, “This car does one thing, and one thing very well… It turns.

Thank you to Nate for taking the time to share with us his rare “JDM Miata.”
